Research And Planning: My first podcast.

   This podcast is basically showing the work which I have produced during my time in media, on majority of the work I produced I used Photoshop with the same sort of method which didn't mention on the podcast. Next I will be interviewing students for my college magazine and creating my music magazine,contents page, and double page spread.

Research And planning: Double page spread anaylsis.

VIBE Double page spread.

Genre- The genre of this magazine double page spread is pop, I can tell this by by looking at the photograph. The image is of the main person in pop band 'Florence and the machine', she is the face of the band and is who does all of the promoting by doing TV appearances and magazine features.The colors suggest the pop genre as they are neutral based colors but with one fun and lively color. The attracting color of red and white give a fun 'lollypop' feel which look effective against the grey background. The fonts on the double page spread are simple and minimalistic as the main font is for the actual story. 

Representation- On this double page spread the artist is being represented as a young attractive female who is dominant and the most popular of the group she is from, the other members are just for backing and instrumental purposes which is why they are not usually invited to interviews. The female on the page is wearing a small black dress with black high heels, a simple outfit with an effect of looking sexy and attractive. The dress chosen has been used to hug her figure and let everyone know that she has a good body and is not afraid to show it. The attitude she appears to have is a non-expressive expression. Her body language suggests she is flaunting herself but with not real intentions, And her facial expression says the same thing, she has a slight pout showing no emotion or expression.

Audience- The target audience of this double page spread like the magazine is targeted at 16+ male and female. The whole vibe magazine has the same target audience throughout and keeps a consistent theme of strong artists who look good.

Media language- The shot type used is a long shot, this is because the whole of her body is visible to the audience and shows the potential movement of the artist. The colors used are general neutral colors, which are quite simple and minimalistic, but it looks effective with the contrasting color red. The colors shout for attention as the red flag is big and loud, this is to be eye catching while the reader is flicking through the magazine.The fonts are basic fonts with no extravagant font types, the are simple and to the point. The sizes of the fonts, for the title are large and eye catching, but the text for the actual story is small and to the side of the image. The clothes which the artist is wearing are black suggesting the intentional sexiness the magazine wants to show.

Layout-  For the double page spread the layout chosen is a straight forward one focusing mainly on the image.The text is out of the ay on the side in columns, the layout doesn't have much writing as the image is the main part of the double page.

Research And Planning: Contents Page Analysis.

Vibe contents Page Analysis:
Genre- The genre of the magazine is pop/RnB you can tell this with the image of a Rnb singer displayed on the contents. The colors used are neutral colors of Grey, black and white sticking to a 3 color rule. The fonts used are small but noticeable to read, this is to allow more focus on the image and less on the writing of contents, on the other hand the title of the contents page is big and in capital letters, to make it stand out form the background they have used to contrasting colors light and dark so that the title is more eye catching. The stories on the contents are of artists such as Ciara, which is why she is displayed on the page,  and pretty Ricky suggesting the genre of the magazine.
Representation- A well-known RnB artist is being represented on this contents as being a attractive provocative female, I can tell this by the clothes she is wearing. She is wearing is small figure hugging Lycra suit uncovering her legs and arms. She has worn this to show of her figure and to look sexy and attractive to audiences. The attitude that she appears to show is a cocky and confidence attitude, the pose that she is using, and the facile expression gives an effect of female power.
layout- For the contents page the layout chosen is a straight forward one focusing mainly on the image. The text displaying the stories is small and on line with each other, it has been selected to be bunged together on the right hand side of the page away from the image. I would consider having my layout similar to this one as although it is simplistic it is effective in looking smart and structured.
Audience- The audience on this contents page is aimed at ages 16+. Male and female will be suited to this magazine as it is a mixed sex type of magazine. Students would be a pick section of the readers in my target audience whether it be college students, or university student in some cases teens and young adults with jobs. The magazine I available for them to bye when they hit the student stage of their life as it is usually the time that they have more money to spend.
Media Language- The type of shot used is a long shot which is the only shot on the contents, I can tell this because the whole of the artists body is visible and appears to be taken from a considerable distance. The colors used are neutral and simple sticking to a 3 color rule of Grey, white and black which looks effective behind the image of an artist. The fonts and size of the fonts are quite simple and consistent, the title is big and eye catching as it is white on a black background, thee layout of the title looks really nice as they are layered underneath each other and looks like a tower. The story text is small and out of the way in a black font with looks effective on the Grey background. The complete background color is very different as it transforms from light Grey going darker to black. The clothes used are simplistic clothing with not much thought behind it, only to go well with the background and shot type.

Research And Planning: Target Audience

My target audience will be:

 -Aged approximately from 16+ young adults ranging up to people in the early twenties.
-Gender will be a mixed genre. with more focus on a female audience but suitable for both sexes.
-occuation will be genrally students, as the magazine is focued on 16+ the audince will be either in shcool, college or maybe university. Some will also be in  full time work, theese will be the older audience.
- The averaege working class would probally be majority of the readers suited to the target audience.
-The wealth would depend, middle class would be probably more likely people who are poorer than the average house hold are less likely to buy a magazine costing up to £4.00.
-Interests for the readers would be music, to by a music magazine you are usually interested in music which is why you'd buy a music magazine and not a general magazine.
-Outlook for the future would be to proceed to either college, university or more often than not to get a job.
-The reach the target audience I would use the colors and fonts appropriate for both sexes, and I would use photographs appropriate for the type of audience. The stories I would include will appeal to students and interest them in reading it.

This is a draft of my cover, contents and a double page spread, this is how I intend my magazine to look like on the final product.

Research And Planning: Masthead

This is a masthead for my magazine which I created on photo shop. It was easy to create as I used a classic font, 'Poplar Std' in a font size of 200. The color I selected is a dark pink with a white background.

This Masthead May change throughout the process of making my magazine.

Research And Planning: Music Magazine Analysis 2.

VIBE music magazine.
The genre which this magazine appeals to is again pop/RnB music, I can tell this because of the artist on the front cover, Beyonce is a famously known singer with music based on this genre. The colors on this cover are quite bland, but effective in giving a simple natural feeling, they have also used a color theme of different shades of blue,white and black. The main photograph is the type of photograph that is just a simple image of an artist rather than giving a point. The stories on sides are also relevent to this genre as they are pop/RnB artists themselves.
The representation of the magazine seems more cover up than the previous magazine, the artist on the cover is wearing a simple white dress, which covers most of her body that doesn't look too reveling or sexy. The attitude she give is a serious expression with no emotion or intention which represents the magazine in a certain way.
The audience with the magazine attracts is maybe a more female audience, at ages approximately 13-19 depending on people. I'm unsure as to if this magazine is in general a magazine aimed at female, but this issue certainly is, as there is no sexy provocative images or stories.
The media language presented is shown by the type of shot, which is medium/long shot, this type of shot is what I may consider using on my magazine cover. The fonts and their sizes are all quite small in the same font and looking consistent throughout. There are no props presented on the cover as the artist is just standing in front of a plain black background.

Research And Planning: Music Magazine Analysis 1.

VIBE, magazine analysis.
This magazine presents the genre as a pop/RnB magazine, I came to this conclusion because of the photograph, there is a pop artist on the front wearing clothes which agree with this type of genre. The colors of the clothes are pink and white showing a fun loving style related to pop music. The fonts on the magazine is inviting and friendly font for the reader. The stories on the cover are all about the pop genre and the artists which link to pop music.
The representation the magazine shows that the interest is directed to both male and female, a unisex magazine for pop music lovers. The 'VIBE' company have selected a well known good looking artist to attract all audiences. They have chose here outfit to be reveling and sexy, yet girlie. The attitude and facial expressions of the artist is a confident position, standing straight bearing all, the facial expression gives the impression that she wants to look, and noes that she looks good.
The audience for this magazine is for people who like pop and RnB music of ages from 13-19 which could vary considering individuals. I can tell this because of the outlook of the magazine it is teenage-like and has an approachable feel.
The media language of the magazine are conveyed with the shot type selected, a long shot has been used to show the full length of her extravagant outfit, the colors stick to a main 3 color rule of white,blue and pink with a little amount of black, this is effective in making it look bright and stand out when on a shop shelf. The fonts and their sizes vary and look good in making some stories stand out more than others.. On this particular cover there are no props used but there is a CGI'd background effect of a floral and clouded scene.

Research And Planning: Story Board

 This is a story board of a action sequence.
On the first shot two characters are having an argument.

The argument then leads to conflict of the female character pushing the male character down the stairs.

This is an over the shoulder shot of the male character falling down the stairs.

The male character is still falling down the stairs.

The male character is now on the floor dead.

The ending shot is of two girls standing at the top of the stairs were they pushed the male character.
