Research and planning: Location Research

The location I have chosen to use for my magazine photo shoot has been highly influenced by magazines such as billboard and vibe magazine. I will be taking my photos in the drama block at Hyde Clarendon Sixth form college', although I will be using this location I intend to have a plain background like that of Billboards magazine. On each issue cover there is a famous celebrity will either a plain colour background or a white background, I like this effect as it allows more focus on the model and can be a good way it use the text in a different colour which ties in well with the colour scheme.

Research And Planning: Contents page story's.& Double page spread story.

This is computer draft of what I want my contents page to look like. The left column will be a list of songs and albums. The small box at the bottom will be events and upcoming tours. Then the larger box will be stories about pop artists. The photograph I will be using has this pose but will fill the whole length of the box.

Research And Planning: Location Recces

These images are location recces for my magazine photos. The first and fourth images are of plain white wall, which from the start is the location I preferred and highly considerd. Although I took photos in other locations in order to make a final decision and have a larger variety of choice. The Second image is on some stars behind a brick wall, this I think looks tacky and unapproriate for my magazine. The third image is much like the second, but it looks less tacky as it is a newly bricked wall, with a cleaner look, although this looks better I would still prefure to use a indoor white wall. The forth image is again a white wall, but it is plastered rather than bricked, which would probably be more suitable for my shoot as it is more plain, were this location is is in the drama block at college, and a place I could use and have easy access. The fifth location was also in the drama block, on this location I can see lockers, I liked this location as it looks quite vintage, although this location looks good I don't think that it would suit with the pose I intend to use for each shot. The sixth photo is in the hair and beauty building and also looks quite effective and different. I would of liked to use this location but it would be awkward to take a actual photo shoot, because the area near the small wall in very enclosed, and the only shot i would be able to take is a close up because of the small amount of space. The next image is also in the hair and beauty building on the stairs which again wouldn't suit to the pose's I intend to use. The final location is a brown fence outside of college, I don't really like this location and have not intentions to use for it. The final image on this post is of a table I consider using for my model to sit on for the double page spread. The location I am decided on using is the classic, minimalistic location of a white wall, or editing the image to delete all of the background so it looks cleaner and more white.

Research and Planning: Plans For The Week.

-upload my location recces
-upload my risk assessments
-Think of stories for my contents page
-Start writing the story/interview for my double page spread
-Take more sample pictures for the pose of my whole magazine
-Hair and makeup tests

Research and planning: Model selection and non-selection

 Model Non selection

These models will not be selected for my magazine the first image is because she doesn't fit in the age range the audience is targeted at, and wouldn't be relevant to the youthful feel I am giving to my magazine. The second image would not be relevant due to the gender, my magazine is more of a female targeted genre, and havening a boy as a model would mean the genre being more unisex, meaning the amount of story surrounding fashion would have to be altered.

Selected Models.
These models will be featured in my magazine, the reason being they are both young, attractive females who would have high relevance to the genre I am aiming for. They both come within the teenage range and will be relatable for the readers.

Research And Planning: Double Page Spread

For my double page spread I going to use inspiration from other magazines which relate to my own genre. I will be using an image of my model as a main part of the pages, an interrview with my model who stars as an artsit, the interview will consist of quiestions about her career and personal life. The look of the double page spread will be like the rest of my magazine sticking to a three colour rule of pink, white and black. These contents are inspirations of what I would like my own double page spread to look like.

The first double page spread had an image on the left with the actual article to the right. This I feel works efftive as it is clearly divided, the red 'L' also looks good for including colour, and a different style. The image of the artist 'Lady Gaga' looks good with the black and white efect, on my own images I will also play around with image minipulation effects to see which works best. The second double page spread has the same layout as the first, the inspiration I would like to take from this is the colour scheme, the grey background benieth the black and white text looks good and works well. The hints of pink would be something I would like to use on my own double page as I would like to include a little pink because of my colour sheme. The image also looks effective as it looks natural and eyecatching. The third and final double page spread is also to the same look of the others, but with less text and more focus on the image. The image I feel is the most effective element to this page, layerd ontop of the title looks nice in creating a good amount of detail. The range of fonts also works well and will be something I consider using on my own page.

Research And Planning: double page spread interview questions.

For the double page spread fro my magazine i will be featuring an intervew with a famous pop star (my model) Here are the questions i will ask.

1- What did you dream of being when younger?

2-How do youre parents think about having such a famous daughter?

3-Do you enjoy singing, is it still the same as when you begun or has the celeb factor changed things?

4-Who inspired you to be a successful artist?

5-Who is youre favorite artist to this date, and whats there best song?

6-Do you feel the pressure of being in the public media, how do you deal with the pressure?

7-Do you still get nervous when doing concerts?

8-Were do the ideas for your songs come from?

9-Do you have any quilty pleasures?

10-What is youre greatist achievement?

11-Whats the crazyest thing a fan has done for/towards you?

12-Would you ever consider joining a band?

13-What do you think you will be doing in 10 years time?

Research And Planning: Test Shots Of My Model

These are test shots of the models pose. The model in these photos is the model I intend to use for the magazine. The first pose my model is looking away from the camera, with her hand on her hip, this picture looks effective as it looks quite a natural picture and, this is because I took it when she was laughing, it is an unexpected shot. This image pose would probably appear on the cover. The second image looks more staged, she is looking away with a happy expression, she is leaning against the wall with her hands on her hips. This type of pose would also appear on the cover, it will be edited to look more professional. The third image is a close up,the smiling facial expression works well and looks natural and not too-staged. The fact that it is a close up with the face covering the frame of the image the background is irrelevant, although it would look better with a white background. this pose would feature on the contents, For my contents I am unsure if to have an image in the back ground. The two images sat on the floor would be for the double page spread, The background is the wrong colour, and looks quite amateur, for this reason I will play around with some locations of were would look best. I am deciding weather to do this type of shot, or one sat on a table. I intend to try both shots to see which works better. After looking at these images I may decide to change the positions and think of some which could work better, during the week I will do another test photo shoot to enable me to get the perfect picture.

These image are of a different model, I was trying out different shots and poses for my magaizne, these are the most successful but may not be nessacerally use for the final photoshoot.

Research and Planning: Plan For The Week.

My plan of the week is:
- To take images of the location I intend to use, as I didnt complete this last week.
- Do my location recces and risk assessments.
- Do more research on the storys I would like to include on my cover, contents and Double page spread.
-Start writing my double page spread story
-start taking images of the model before the official photo shoot, to see which pose works best.

Research And Planning: Test Shots with SLR

These are test shot photos using a SLR camera, the first 2 photos were taken outside. I instructed my model firstly to stand in front of a brick wall at the side of college. This is a casual pose with no expression but shows a difference in shots outside and inside. The second outside shot I positioned my model sat on a step looking away from the cameras direction, I think this photo is the most effective as it looks natural with a good central focus. The photos beneath are inside, the first portrait picture is the best of the two, the pose is natural ad the lighting works well with the help of the cameras flash. The second indoor photo is to a poor quality as the surroundings past the wall are visible, if I crop this photo it would look better.

These images are shots which didn't go as I intended, the quality is poor as it is blurred.

Research And Planning: Plublication Plan.

This is a production plan done on prezi for my music magazine.

Research And Planning: My Model's pose.

These magazine covers have poses and body positions which I am considering to use, I will try out each pose during my photo shoot and see which looks the most effective.

For the front cover I will use either the 'SPIN's cover model position, or the 'GLAMOUR' straight standing position, and for the double page spread I will use the 'VOUGE's cover where the model is sat down.

The 'VOUGE' magazine has a simular look of colour scheme that I want, my colour scheme will also be pink and white, but with the grey being black, and the backgrouund will be white.
This colour scheme will be used on the double page spread, cover and contents.

Research And Planning: Re-Draft of cover, contents, and double page spread.

These are the re-drafts of my music magazine cover, contents, and double page spread, I designed these according to the answers from my questionnaire.

This is the front cover draft.
-This appeals to both men and women, but mostly female. This is because of the results of my questionnaire.
-This is suitable to teens aged 16-18 because the audience from my questionnaire were to this age range.
-The genre is pop/rnb, I have made this clear on the cover to purposely give it the 'pop' 'young' feel.
-I based my own magazine on a famous magazine called 'VIBE', this is because 70% of the people surveyed preferred to read the 'VIBE' magazine.
-The colour scheme of the cover, although unclear on my drafts is pink white and black, I chose this because it was the most popular answer from the audience research.

This is the contents page draft.
-The image I am going to select for the contents will be a close up of my model, her finger on her lips with the word 'shhh' written on the finger.
- The colour scheme on this will be to the same pink, white, and black rule, but with it less apparent. Because the image is the focus and the filler of the page, therefor the only colour on the page will be the title, and story information. The colour scheme chosen from the audience surveyed will be shown as the colours of the font.
- The story's shown on this page will be created according to what the results of my questionnaire was, the answers popular were various stories for example, interview with artists which i a story I intended to include on my finished contents page.

  The double page spread.
- The image on this page is of a model sat on the floor.
-Also the colour scheme again will be of the results option, the chosen 'pink, white and black theme' has been used and will be the most apparent on this page, as there is more space of colour to use.
-The interview of this will be with an artist, this is because the readers would enjoy reading an article including a artist they like.

The contents page I have drafted will be different, I have deiced that the simplistic look doesn't work for my magazine, therefor I have decided to change it to have a image around with a white or black background. My contents page will have a similar layout to the one ninetieth.

This is a mock-up of how I would like my contents too look. The image would be different and it would look more professional like the Q contents.

Research And Planning: Plan for the next few weeks.

In the next few weeks I plan to complete the re-drafts of my cover, contents, and double page spread. I will then upload them and add annotations to them. I then intend to take pictures of various locations around college to see were would be a suitable place to place my photo shoot. I will then organize a date to take the photos, and decide from few which to use. After that I will begin making and designing my final magazine.

Research And Planning: Costume Ideas.

This black simple dress with black suede wedge shoes are the first possibility. It is a simple and not a very colorful but it would look effective against the simple background I intend to use, and will make the pink on the cover stand out.

The lipsy dress and Ferne Cotton lace heels is also a possibility, it has more color and detail but also looks odd, I may consider using this out fit for the double page spread.

My final decision is that the simple black dress and wedge heels will be included on the front cover of my magazine.

This is the type of hair style I would like my model to have, a middle parting with wavy natural looking hair.

My model will be wearing a jumper similar to this for the contents page.
