Resarch And Planning: Magazine And Contents

 Evaluation
This is my completed magazine and contents page. To design the Front cover I used 'photo shop', For the main image I photographed my friend outside the college in front of the trees in the car park. On the image I made some alterations to smooth en her face with the healing brush tool. I also altered the color balance of the photo to make the trees a brighter green and to have a better all round contrast. To create the contents page I used 'In Design' this didn't take long as I only used the text icon. On The college magazine cover I like the finished product and feel that it was successful, what I like the most is the main photograph, it is appropriate to the magazine as it is a student. Something that doesn't look as effective is the masthead, I should of but the text behind the student, I will consider this when I redo my front cover. On the front cover of the magazine which I produced the font sizes throughout I think are correct, there is a variety of sizes which i feel are approriate. I think that the masthead is the right size as it doesn't take up to much room, yet it is noticeable. The story fonts are all the same, the top part of the story is in a bigger font to the bottom, this acts as a sort of sub heading as it is the title and introduces each story, I feel that this works effectively and shows different sizes and types of font. On the cover I stuck to a specific color rule, only using white and pink, although there are other colors on the photograph, I think that the colors I used were nice colors to use as they are not to bright or dark, and ave an inviting presentation. The cover and contents page I can tell are from the same magazine as there are no outrageous color schemes on either, to make it more noticeable that there from the same magazine I should of introduced a small amount of pink to the title as I did on the front covers masthead. I also feel that I should of included a image on the contents page, which relates to the magazine so that it isn't as plain, I will consider this when redrafting. The main photograph on the front cover I feel was taken well, it shows the wind blowing her hair and a outdoorsy feel to it, the image is appropriate as the girl is a student on the college ground. The colors on the photo are good as they made the student stand out from the background, I made some photo-shop alternations to enhance the colors with the Adjustments, curve tool. The photograph works well with the color schemes and the text fonts and sizes. The stories on the cover are what I think are the right amount, they fill the sides of the magazine but don't take to much room that theirs no room for the photograph, they are all appropriate as they relate to college life including university open dates, college art work, and other stories that student would like to no about, I took the target audience responses I did earlier into consideration and came up with the type of stories that they'd read. The contents page has more stories as it has a larger area to fill, there are 4 more stories presented and are also related to college life, the look good and take up majority of the room which is what I intended.

Reaearch And Planning: Photographs For The Magazine

Here are 3 photos i took for my college magazine i used one similar to the one of the trees for my final front cover.

Research And Planning: Magazine And Contents Draft.

This is a draft of my magazine front cover and contents pages. They isn't any color or much detail as they are only draft and i will be developing the ideas further on 'Photo shop' and 'In design'.

Research And Planning: Audience Responces

Here were interviewed students from this college to see what they thought of our magazine.
-The stories that interested the students were real life situations.
-The price students would pay for is £2.00-£3.50 but free on a Friday.
- Things that students associate with college is studies and socializing.
-The color scheme which was suggested were soft colors like pink, yellow and green.
-The students would buy this magazine to keep informed about college.
-The layout best suited would be in columns and with a art presented cover.

Research And Planning: Medium Close Up Shots

These are examples of medium shots, they are from magazines and photos, They are a close up shot because they are only visible from there heads to there shoulders or waist, in medium shots there face is the main focus.

Research And Planning:College Cover Analysis

-Masthead 'college monthly' appealing to students.
-Slug-line 'TH2 Students Monthly Magazine'.
-Main Picture of a young student like person, wearing casual clothes age 16/17.
-The girl is holding books is her arm suggesting she is a student.
-No bar code or issue number presented at the front.
-Stories appeal to students as they revolve around fashion for girls, gaming and sports for boys and quizzes for both sex's.
-The color scheme is very persistent and has a mixed sex theme of pink and green, with black ad white as neutral colors like every typical magazine.
-The fonts of the text used is a soft and variate font, although they are all around the same thickness with no over-bold tones.
-The date in which the magazine was issued is clearly displayed on the front under the slug line in a standing out bubble.

Research And Planning: InDesting Film Review

On this movie review I used a program called In Design. Firstly we opened a new file and added 2 columns for the text of our movie reviews to be placed. I then found a actual movie review of the internet to then save in a word document, and with that document i placed it in In Design. I arranged the text into columns and added an image which related to the movie review, finally I added a title and changed the color of the background and text to finish off.

Research And Planning: Movie Poster

To create this poster I chose two images from the internet and dragged them both to the Photo shop window. I then used the 'polygonal lasso tool' to cut out the the face of 'Amy Child's' , I added a layer to the background so that I could then add a second layer. I then dragged the cut-out face to the 'knocked up' poster and accurately sized up the face on-top of the original face.

Research And Planning: Photoshop Challenge

On this image I firstly opened a A4 document by clicking on file, then new. I then added a text by opening a text con from the tool bar, I edited the text to be on a 'Century Gothic' font in a size 24.  I then changed the color of the text by selecting the color panel option and then chose the shade and color K would like the text to be. I then selected the arrow tool to locate the text in a more central position. Then I highlighted the text to give it a drop shadow, I did this by pressing 'Layer' then 'Layer Style' then 'Drop Shadow'. After I made alterations to the text I added a picture from 'Firefox' of Britney Spears, I did this by dragging the image to my desktop, then from my desktop to 'Photo shop', the image was then placed under the text. Then by incorporating the skills from the skin tutorial work I did last lesson to change the hair color of the image by using the brush tool with a low opacity. To finish my image I added a border with a rectangular tool for around the image.

Research And Planning: Skin Tutorial

I first used the healing brush to remove the spots on her face, I then made her face glossy looking by adding a different tone of color. I then gave her some eye-shadow,lipstick.blusher and changed the color of her hair by using the brush tool, to do this I added a second background layer to apply the make-up. To get the makeup looking realistic I used a low opacity of to a number of 25%, to change the color of her hair I increased the opacity to 70% as I was changing a larger amount of color.

Research and Planning: Introduction To Photoshop

I first used I opened the music background, then I cut around the CD to added it to the background. when the CD had been added I changed the color of it to make it a brighter red. I then cut out the horn by eliminated the background to then copy it to the music note background. I then added a effect to the background to make it waved. After I added the music note animations to appear coming out of the horn, I arranged the whole elements to my own personal design and finally added my name.
