Evaluation- Question 4
This would be how my target audience would look like. She would have a love for pop music and an interest in Fashion. The age would be majority teenage and would be a relevant person for my target audience.
Evaluation - Question 3
What kind of media institution might distribute your product and why?
Role of magazine distribution. The role of the magazine distributor is to get the magazine its target audience, and place the magazine in places which will attract that target audience. They decide where the magazine will be sold in a way for the product to be sold more, and be noticed more by the audience it is aimed at.
What your magazine is similar to 'institutionally'. Magazines which are similar to mine are Q, with the musical aspect, but also 'POP' as it is more girly and colorful, these use distribution company Bauer Media (http://www.bauermedia.co.uk/home). This magazine company is the distributor for a large range of magazines varying from genres such as: Woman's, Mens Lifestyle, Pets and golf, the variation of genres is the reason why this company distributes magazines like Closer, Kerrang, and heat. Magazines like these including Q are sold worldwide in highly accessible places like WHSmiths, and various supermarkets like Sainsburys, ASDA and Morrissons. The magazines are sold in such a large amount of places to attract a bigger audience and to make it more accessible to the target readers.
How will I distribute my magazine. To do that I will do the same as how Bauer Media work making my magazine available in highly accessible shops like WHSmiths, Sainsburys and ASDA, when selling my magazine in these places it will attract a larger target audience and make it as well known as Q. I will use methods like creating apps were each fortnightly issue is available to by on a app for iphones, and android smart phones. The App will offer exclusive discounts and offers to buy the magazine online but slightly cheaper than in stores. The only catch for the app would be to get the offers and discounts they have to be a subscriber.

Evaluation- Question 2
How does your media product represent particular social groups?
Lady Gaga Q Double page spread.(left) compared to my model (right)
Posture/Gesture- The posture of both women show there confidence as both are holding there heads high with no shyness. Although my model is showing a more innocent and natural gesture with here hand not in the shot, showing that the Q magazines model is more cocky and shows her attitude within the shot, although both women appear strong.
Angle/Shot Type/ Lighting- I have used a medium shot of my model like the one of Lady Gaga because I like the effect of the chest to head being the main focus of the image, as it shows the facial expression of the model and a slight vision of the models posture and body language. The angle I have used is a eye level shot, I did this like Q magazine as it allows the model to look straight ahead, and gives a slight connection to the reader. I think the use of the eye level angle looks more natural and it was a straight forward angle to achieve. The lighting in both photos are natural and not heavily influenced, Q magazines photo possible has more lighting editing but none that is overly noticeable. My photo was taken in a drama block corridor, therefore the lighting was only from the lights with no enhancement from other lights.
Costume/Hair/Make-up- The make-up used on Lady Gaga is harder to tell how much has been applied because of the black & white effect, but when looking at the eyes it appears she appears to have really dark eye make-up, this is possibly because of the genre and style she is trying to portray, this being dark. In contrast my genre is more girly and pop'y therefore there isn't a lot of make-up on my model and has a more natural colour. The costume of my model is again more no natural as she is wearing a plain black dress, Lady Gaga on the other hand is wearing chains to show what type of genre she is aiming to portray. The hair of my model is long and a light mousy brown colour, her hair style is normal and is slightly backcombed for more volume, whereas Lady Gaga's hair is in more of a short up-do, with it being curled, and hairsprayed.
Expression- The expression of both models are normal and not very staged. My models expression is smiley and girly, this is to represent the genre her music is, and to give a innocent and vulnerable look. Lady Gaga has a more aggressive expression to represent her genre of music being more dangerous and dark.

Evaluation - Question 1.
Contents Page
Use (Red)
My colour scheme is influenced by the Q magazine I have compared with as I have stuck to a three colour rule, although my scheme is pink rather than red I have used a dominant and brighter colour with supporting colours being black and white. This three colour scheme of Q magazine has influenced my own choice of colour schemes as it is relevant to the pop genre, like the red is relevant to the rock/indie colour scheme. I have also used from this magazine the contents page main photo size and placement. The focus image of the band is the largest of photos to show that this particular band is the main story of the page; I used this on my own contents page by having the artist who I would like to have the larger focus to be the biggest and more noticeable photo in comparison to the other images featured.
Develop (Blue)
I have developed the column style of Q magazine as I have developed the white background with the black text articles, to be more bright and colorful. I have used the dominant colour of my colour scheme being pink to be the background of the columns, the text of articles are in white, this has developed Q magazines contents page as it introduces the colour scheme in larger quantity, and has more of the space filled with colour rather than white backgrounds, this also makes my contents page more relevant to the pop genre. I have used the number and article layout but developed the colours and fonts, for example the number being next to the article is the same as mine, but the page numbers on my contents page are larger, and are the same length of the text. I also developed the articles theme, the articles revolve solely around music on the Q contents page, where as I have developed the articles to co-inside more with the genre of my magazine. I have included a feature column with fashion articles; this is to look more girly and fun, and to relate better to female readers, where as Q magazine is targeted to a more male audience, this being the reason for more musical stories.
Challenge (Green)
For the Q magazine contents page I have challenged the fonts which the magazine has used. My font is a san serif font and looks fairly girly for the audience it is targeted at. But in comparison the font used for Q's contents page capital block fonts have been used, I chose against using capital letters as it looks more male, and too harsh for my genre. I have also challenged the amount of photos used on the contents page. On Q's contents page one large focus image, and one small filler image in the review column, in comparison I have included more photos on my contents page. I have used the large photo like that of Q magazine, but I have added three extra photos for the bottom column, this is to fill the page out, and to give some relevant references to the fashion articles.
Use (Red)
The Q magazine double page spread has influenced my own double page for example the photo size and placement. In Q magazine the photo of the artist 'Lady Gaga' fills the whole A4 page on one side, I chose to do this on my own double page spread as it looks effective when filling the whole page. Although Q magazine is a different genre to my own I think this layout of photo size and placement works well with both Indie genre, and my own pop genre. The second element of Q magazine I used for my own double page is the layout of the interview story, the designer of this double page has filled the left side of the page completely with words of the story written, I chose to use this on my own magazine because it enabled me to write a large amount of story, and has both sides of the double page spread filled.
Develop (Blue)
For my double page spread I chose to develop the photo pose and shot from Q magazine's. The photo pose and shot of Q's is a mid shot of a female with her hands on her chest, I thought that my genre of magazine and model should look more gentle and focus more on the face, which is why I used a close up shot directing to the face which I feel worked effectively. I developed the photo colour as Q magazine has used the black and white effect for the photo, were as I have increased colour, brightness and contrast on my own main photo. I also developed the story title, on Q magazine the title is like my own the name of the artist who the story is about, but I developed the title to be larger and more noticeable and to fill a bigger part of the top of the page.
Challenge (Green)
I challenged elements of Q magazine for example by adding a second photo. On Q magazine the right page filled with text, but to add more visual elements I added a small photo of the same artist for the bottom corner. I also challenged Q's double page spread by adding of 'Tweets' in a small part of the page, I added these to break up the page more, so that the story isn't all text. I feel this worked effectively in showing the pop genre because in classic pop magazines it focuses more on visuals, and various numbers of photos, which is what I tried to incorporate.
Front Page
Use (Red)
On my front cover i used a different magazine which is more relevant to my genre, this magazine being 'Blender'. From this magazine i used the influences by adding the slug line. The slug line on 'Blender' magazine runs along the top of the page above the masthead, and consists of two colours being pink and black. Although i have used a different shade of pink i used the idea of a slug line on my own magazine including to make relevance to the pop genre, and to make the cover look fuller, I also used the font style of 'Blender' magazine as it is girly and small quantity's of text being the story, i have used the same layout as the magazine cover i compared.
Develop (Blue)
For my magazine cover i developed the style of the main photo on 'Blender's front cover. I used the idea of a female looking girly, wearing a low cut dress as like the model on "Blender' wearing low cut shorts. The hair styles have been developed as have gone for a plainer less styled way of doing the hair, adding no accessorize. The main and most obvious way of developing this cover is the shot type. I have taken a long shot of my model, where as in comparison a medium shot, with a looking over the shoulder pose has been used on 'Blender'. I also developed the masthead of the magazine by using a thinner and smaller font, and the colour of the masthead, this is to make more of the colour scheme be pink and more relevant to my genre.
Challenge (Green)
For my magazine I challenged elements of 'Blender' magazine to make it relevant to my genre and appeal more to my style. For example I challenged the way the main story is presented more noticeable, as the story is more central and in a pink circle so that this story is the main focus and attraction of the story. In contrast each story on 'Blender' looks the same with the same font, and layout style. I also challenged the element of a banner at the bottom of the page, this adds more detail and colour with extra photos to make the cover look busier and with more things to look at. I think the banner worked especially when challenging 'Blender' magazine as is adds more of the colour scheme and shows the girly, pop genre that I have chosen.

Front Cover Final
After continuous editing to make my magazine look more professional I have redone my magazine cover adding more elements of the colour scheme, more photographs and the stories have been rearranged in size, layout, font and capitalization to make it appear more magazines like which I think has worked successfully.

Final Contents page.
This is my edited contents page and I think compared to my original draft, this looks more like a appropriate contents page with the use of text down the side columns, and the introduction of more images have made it look overall more effective.
